Neighbors Together Celebrates NeighborWorks Week
Empowering Self, Empowering Community
Saturday, June 14, 2024, 10:00 am - 1:30 pm

Each year, ANDP’s Neighbors Together Community Leadership Initiative (CLI) supports current and emerging neighborhood leaders in addressing a topic of community importance. This year, the CLI Team—Nadine Ali, Cassandra Brown, Wilita Frehiwet, DeBorah Hargrove, and Niya Randall—has teamed with ANDP to craft a topic on how self-care can empower both individuals and communities. Join us Saturday, June 14, for Empowering Self, Empowering Community.

Research shows that stress is steadily rising—nearly half of U.S. adults report feeling frequently stressed, a 16-point increase over the past 20 years. When ignored, stress can reduce focus, impact economic well-being, and cause serious health problems, earning it the label “the silent killer.”

Mindfulness meditation offers a powerful way to counter stress. Backed by science, it’s been shown to improve brain function, mental clarity, and overall health. Practicing mindfulness boosts productivity and strengthens our ability to engage in community challenges with clarity and resilience.

We’re excited to announce Shawntà Hooks as the keynote speaker. Shawntà is a mindfulness facilitator, speaker, and CEO of Mindful Culture Creators, based in Atlanta. With more than 20 years of experience, she blends mindfulness, leadership development, and belonging to create real-time transformation in the workplace and beyond. Her work fosters environments where individuals and communities can thrive.

About Atlanta Neighborhood Development Partnership
Neighbors Together is a community engagement program of Atlanta Neighborhood Development Partnership. Each year community leadership graduates work to change their neighborhoods from the inside out. ANDP is a Chartered Member of the NeighborWorks Network and develops, finances, and advocates for affordable housing at scale that promotes racial equity and healthy communities where families thrive.
About NeighborWorks Week
Each June, NeighborWorks America and its network of local organizations, including ANDP, mobilize tens of thousands of volunteers, businesspeople, neighbors, friends, and local and national elected and civic leaders in a week of neighborhood change and awareness.
About NeighborWorks America
ANDP is part of the national NeighborWorks network, an affiliation of nearly 250 nonprofit organizations located in every state, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. In fiscal year 2019, the NeighborWorks network provided 457,200 housing and counseling services; owned and managed 173,700 rental homes, and created 47,100 jobs.
