NeighborWorks America supports a national network of more than 240 housing organizations engaged in community development, including Atlanta Neighborhood Development Partnership (ANDP). NeighborWorks America’s mission is to make every community in America a place of opportunity. Throughout 2018, ANDP and network members across the nation will celebrate the 40th year of NeighborWorks America.

NeighborWorks America builds the skills of our team, supplements our organizational resources and ultimately extends the reach of organizations like ANDP. In return we are able create more homeownership opportunities, engage more neighborhood leaders and transform more communities than we would be able to do otherwise,” explains ANDP President & CEO John O’Callaghan.

 

By supporting Network organizations and their efforts to promote stable communities, build financial security and nurture healthy environments, NeighborWorks is working coast to coast to advance opportunity. Last year alone, NeighborWorks Network activity resulted in:

• 114,975 customers counseled and educated

• 360,009 families assisted with affordable housing

• 53,649 jobs created and maintained

• $91:$1 leverage of congressional appropriations

 

Since joining the NeighborWorks Network, ANDP has received funding vital to its foreclosure redevelopment effort.  With the support of NeighborWorks and others, ANDP has provided homeownership opportunities for nearly 500 families since the onset of the foreclosure crisis.

 

Our affiliation has also created opportunities to leverage best practices of leading community developers across the nation - and share what’s working in our communities as well.

 

With support and expertise from NeighborWorks America, ANDP continues to grow its community building and engagement efforts. In addition to our work to offer quality affordable homeownership opportunities in underserved neighborhoods, we are working to improve the overall quality of life in these communities. We’ve trained more than 300 neighborhood leaders on timely topics of public safety, code enforcement, police relations, neighborhood marketing and branding and general leadership skills.

 

Beyond providing much needed programmatic support, NeighborWorks America provides its Network members with vital training opportunities throughout the year at its NeighborWorks Training Institutes. The course offerings have strengthened the skills and knowledge of ANDP staff and provided board development opportunities for our governing body.

 

Throughout 2018, we’ll be spotlighting the important ways NeighborWorks America helps ANDP serve metro Atlanta more efficiently.
