STAFF
SPOTLIGHT: Zenovia Palmer
After coming to ANDP to fill an administrative assistant position
with the Mixed Income Communities Initiative (MICI), Zenovia L.
Palmer quickly proved to be an asset to MICI and the organization.
Within a year, Zenovia was promoted to MICI Program Administrator.
This self-starting, caring professional demonstrates every day that
she is woman of service and distinction.
In her current role within the Research, Policy & Information
Department, Zenovia works with the MICI program director and the
public policy manager to define and attain MICI goals. She works to
ensure that grant objectives are met by supporting, organizing,
researching, and managing department finances, meeting and event
planning and collaborating with partners.
Zenovia studied at Fisk University for one year and went on to
receive a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Hunter College of
the City University of New York. She also holds a Master of Science
in Nonprofit Management from The New School for Social Research. She
has successfully completed three regional leadership programs
including: United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta’s Community Building
Fellows Program, Atlanta Women’s Foundation’s Destiny Fund, and
Georgia Stand-Up’s (Strategic Alliance for New Directions and
Unified Polices) Policy Institute for Civic Leadership.
Over a decade ago, Zenovia’s passion for nonprofit service was
ignited as she participated in two youth leadership programs - Jobs
for Youth, Inc. in New York City and 21st Century Youth Leadership
Movement in Selma, Alabama. Prior to joining ANDP, Zenovia held
positions at various nonprofit organizations, including Negro
Ensemble Company, American Group Psychotherapy Association, Hands on
Atlanta, Herndon Home, and the National Voting Rights Museum and
Institute in Selma, Alabama.
Zenovia’s career path reflects her lifelong goal to work in the
nonprofit sector, or “see social change come to fruition,” as she
explains. When asked what she finds most gratifying about her
position, she stated, “MICI serves as a voice for the voiceless, and
my job is rewarding in knowing that I am helping affect social
change brick by brick.”
ANDP President & CEO John O’Callaghan shares, “We are fortunate to
have great staff members like Zenovia. She works diligently every
day to help the organization achieve its mission. She is an
invaluable part of the company.”
Zenovia continues to honor her commitment to affect change in
communities by avidly volunteering with Atlanta Community Food Bank,
RRC, Hands On Atlanta and Project Open Hand among a few of her
volunteer activities. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority,
Inc.
